flemay/golang repository overview

Docker Golang

🐳 Compatible AWS Lambda Golang Docker image with golang/dep.

Usage

# create a .env file
$ make envfile
# build image locally
$ make build
# test the image
$ make test
# go inside the container
$ make shell
# clean
$ make clean

Automated build process

Every change to master will trigger a Travis CI build.

A git tag change to the repository will also trigger Travis CI build and if successful, will also trigger a [Docker Hub build][dockerHubBuild] to build a new Docker image. The current tag 1-stretch targets the latest Go 1.x at all time so the next tag will target Go 2.x.

Every month, Travis CI will trigger the build automatically which will trigger Docker Hub to rebuild the image of all tags which will keep each tag up to date. For instance, it will update automatically to a newer version of Go.

Update Docker image

  1. Apply the changes

    For Golang version update, Makefile and Dockerfile need to be updated

  2. Build and test locally $ make build test
  3. Commit and push

    This will trigger Travis CI build but will not trigger Docker Hub build

  4. Once Travis CI build passed, run $ make tag
  5. Travis CI will run the build again and trigger Docker Hub
  6. Go to [Docker Hub builds][dockerHubBuild] and the build should be kicking off
