fleter/moodle repository overview

Moodle

(will not be maintained for a long period of time)

Available Version / Tags

500, 500-aio

We have provided images for all in one installations that can make it easier for ordinary people to run the first installation.

Note that for the database, we use mariadb. So when the moodle installation runs in the database driver section, select mariadb native so that there is no error in the installation afterwards.

Docker Compose

Use our compose preset for our recommended installation:

services:
  moodle:
    image: fleter/moodle:500-aio
    restart: unless-stopped
    ports:
      - 80:80 # Better dont change this
      - 3306:3306 # MariaDB Server
      - 8080:8080 # phpMyAdmin
    volumes:
      - /path/to/backup/etc/nginx:/etc/nginx
      - /path/to/backup/var/www:/var/www
      - /path/to/backup/var/lib/mysql:/var/lib/mysql

Manual Installation

Docker Compose

With manual installation, we only include moodle in our image, so if you want moodle to work like it can, you need an external database and make sure moodle can connect to that database, some settings are needed such as the moodle database requirement must use utf8mb4_unicode_ci. If you want to use a mysql database with docker too, then we have provided a compose preset that you can use. Here are the composer presets that we recommend:

services:
  moodle:
    image: fleter/moodle:500
    ports:
      - 80:80 # Better dont change this
  moodledb:
    image: mysql:lts
    command: --character-set-server=utf8mb4 --collation-server=utf8mb4_unicode_ci
    ports:
      - 3306:3306 # Database
    environment:
      - MYSQL_ROOT_PASSWORD=root
      - MYSQL_USER=moodle
      - MYSQL_PASSWORD=moodle
      - MYSQL_DATABASE=moodle
    volumes:
      - /path/to/backup/var/lib/mysql:/var/lib/mysql:Z
  phpmyadmin:
    image: phpmyadmin:latest
    ports:
      - 8080:80 # phpMyAdmin
    environment:
      - PMA_HOST=moodledb

Installation Steps

This installation is based on the compose preset that we created, changes to compose can also be adjusted in the moodle installation.
