This repo can be used as the Particle command line interface for the Core, Photon, etc.

I use this to integrate Particle into my continuous integration build machines. It allows me to have Particle compiling and flashing abilities without extensive installs. Note: This Docker includes dfu flashing with the --privileged option.
To use locally I'd create a docker image from this as a private-cli.
FROM fossum/particle-cli:latest
RUN particle login <username> <password>
WORKDIR /project
ENTRYPOINT ["particle"]
CMD ["compile", "photon", "./src", "--saveTo", "photon-firmware.bin"]
docker run -v /path/to/proj:/project private-cli will compile the src folder and output photon-firmware.bin. You can then run, docker run -v /path/to/proj:/project private-cli flash <device-name> photon-firmware.bin to flash your device.
Note: If you want to do lots of local development, you may want to swap ENTRYPOINT and CMD for CMD ["/bin/bash"] to just operate in the docker with docker run -it -v /path/to/proj:/project private-cli. Any changes in the /project folder will then manifest in /path/to/proj
