What is Kertish-DOS

Kertish-dos is a simple and highly scalable distributed object storage system for storing and serving billions of files. It was developed to meet the expectations for mass object storage requirements in isolated networks.

What is it for?

Kertish-dos is developed to cover the traditional object storage system requirements in a scalable way. The software will use the same path-tree structure virtually to keep the files but will not stuck in the hard-drive limits of the machine. Creating a fail-safe, highly available fast, and scalable file storage is possible.

Where can it be used?

Systems where they need huge storage space requirements to keep all the files logically together. For example; common cloud storage for microservices, video storage for streaming services, and the like...

How shouldn't it be used?

Kertish-dos does not have any security implementation. For this reason, it is best to use it in a publicly isolated network. Also, it does not have file/folder permission integration, so user-base limitations are also not available.

How is the best usage?

Kertish-dos is suitable to use as a back service of front services. It means it is better not to allow users to directly to the object manipulation.

You will find all official Docker Container Images for the Kertish-DOS in this location.

How to use these images

The best starting point is using a docker-compose.yml file located in our GitHub repository to kickstart the whole setup at once. You can reach out to the docker-compose file in the following URL;

https://github.com/freakmaxi/kertish-dos/blob/master/docker-compose.yml

Issues

If you have any issues with using the docker images or Kertish-DOS. Please use our GitHub page to report issues (https://github.com/freakmaxi/kertish-dos/issues)

Image Variants

You can reach all services here. Tag names start with the service name and follow with the version number. The dev version is the development version of the current master in the GitHub repository and can contain breaking changes or bugs and possibly break your setup. Because of this, use it with caution.

The latest version is the latest stable release. If you use the latest as your container image in your setup, it may not be compatible with your current setup on the new release because of the breaking changes.

License

As with all Docker images, these likely also contain other software which may be under other licenses (such as Bash, etc from the base distribution, along with any direct or indirect dependencies of the primary software being contained).

As for any pre-built image usage, it is the image user's responsibility to ensure that any use of this image complies with any relevant licenses for all software contained within.
