gabriellando/squid-openssl repository overview

squid-openssl

Squid container based on Alpine Linux with Squid and OpenSSL support installed.

Included packages
  • squid
  • openssl
  • ca-certificates
  • tzdata
  • coreutils
Runtime expectation

The container uses /entrypoint.sh to start Squid and forward log files to stdout/stderr-friendly streams.

By default, Squid runs with /etc/squid/squid.conf.

You can bind-mount your own /etc/squid/squid.conf, or include extra snippets from /etc/squid/config.d when referenced by squid.conf.

If you bind-mount the whole /etc/squid directory, make sure required support files are present in that mounted directory.

If needed, set this line in squid.conf:

mime_table /usr/share/squid/mime.conf
Quick local build
docker build -t squid-openssl:local .
Quick local run
docker run --rm -it \
 -p 3128:3128 \
 -p 3129:3129 \
 -v /path/to/squid.conf:/etc/squid/squid.conf:ro \
 squid-openssl:local

If you want to pass custom Squid flags, append them after the image name. For example:

docker run --rm -it -p 3128:3128 squid-openssl:local -N -f /etc/squid/squid.conf
Verify Squid TLS backend
docker run --rm squid-openssl:local squid -v | grep -Ei "OpenSSL|GnuTLS"
Gitea workflow

A monthly Docker Hub build-and-publish workflow is included at .gitea/workflows/docker-build-and-publish.yml.
