LLM observability for Gegentic — OpenTelemetry traces in ClickHouse, metadata in PostgreSQL.
2.8K
LLM observability service for Gegentic self-hosted deployments. Captures, stores, and serves OpenTelemetry traces from LLM applications (OpenAI, Anthropic, LangChain, LlamaIndex, vector DBs, etc.). Trace data is stored in ClickHouse.
Full setup, configuration, and integration documentation is available at docs.gegentic.com.
docker run -d \
--name gegentic-tracing-service \
-p 5001:5001 \
--env-file .env \
gegentic/tracing-service:latest
5001 serves the HTTP/REST API.| Variable | Description |
|---|---|
CLICK_HOUSE_HOST | ClickHouse host |
CLICK_HOUSE_USER | ClickHouse user |
CLICK_HOUSE_PASSWORD | ClickHouse password |
CLICK_HOUSE_DATABASE_NAME | ClickHouse database name |
On startup the container creates the ClickHouse schema if it doesn't already exist (idempotent). A missing ClickHouse connection is non-fatal — trace ingestion fails until ClickHouse is reachable.
By default the service accepts trace uploads (/api/trace) and trace reads (/api/internal/*) from anything that can reach it. To restrict them to your own services, set a shared secret and enforce it:
| Variable | Description |
|---|---|
INTERNAL_SERVICE_SHARED_SECRET | The secret callers send in the x-internal-service-secret header. The gateway, guardian and api send it when they have the same variable set. |
TRACING_AUTH_MODE | report (default): log calls without the secret and let them through. enforce: answer 401. An unrecognised value enforces. With no secret set, report allows everything and enforce answers 503. |
