⁠Python Docker Image With Non-Root Account

⁠Description

Builds an Alpine Python Docker image with a non-user account and setting the account as the default user.

By doing this, the following issues are prevented:

• Stops the image from immediately having root level access to a docker host - The switch --user 0 would need to be added to have the container run as the root user.
• Requires that the command USER root is specifically called before modifying the image during the build process - Some builds do not require the root user for container builds to be completed.

This repository is connected to Docker Hub - so you will always find the latest builds there. Execute the docker pull command in order to get the required image:

• geoffh1977/python:3 - The latest build of a Major version number
