⁠makephp — PHP FPM base images (8.3 / 8.4 / 8.5)

Batteries-included PHP FPM images for the makephp⁠ environment — a complete, Makefile-driven Docker setup for PHP applications (local development and single-node production). Multi-arch: linux/amd64 and linux/arm64.

⁠Included PHP extensions

Core: bcmath, bz2, calendar, ctype, curl, exif, ffi, ftp, gd (freetype/jpeg/webp), gettext, gmp, iconv, intl, mbstring, mysqli, opcache, pcntl, pdo_mysql, pdo_pgsql, pgsql, soap, sockets, xml, xsl, zip.

PECL: amqp, apcu, imagick, mongodb, redis, swoole.

⁠Usage

As the base for an application image:

ARG BASE_IMAGE=giacomeli/makephp:8.4-prod
FROM ${BASE_IMAGE}
# your app setup...

Quick interactive dev container:

docker run --rm -it -v "$PWD:/var/www" giacomeli/makephp:8.4-dev zsh

In the makephp environment, switch PHP versions by changing PHP_IMAGE_TAG in .env (8.3-dev | 8.4-dev | 8.5-dev).

⁠dev vs prod

• 8.x-dev (~1.9 GB): full development shell experience, optional Xdebug via build arg in the source Dockerfile.
• 8.x-prod (~900 MB): identical php -m, production php.ini (opcache.validate_timestamps=0, display_errors=Off, expose_php=Off), Composer included.

Images are built on native amd64 and arm64 runners via GitHub Actions.
