What is Rainloop?

Simple, modern & fast web-based email client

Modest system requirements, decent performance, simple installation and upgrade, no database required - all these make RainLoop Webmail a perfect choice for your email solution.

How to use this image.

This image contains Apache's httpd and PHP, with rainloop installed.

Container configuration

Via environment variables, and/or _FILE, and/or secrets.

Persistence of the configuration of rainloop

You should mount a volume to /var/www/html/data/_data_/_default_

Either with

docker volume create rainloop-data
docker run -d -v rainloop-data:/var/www/html/data/_data_/_default_ gijoe88/rainloop-docker

or with

mkdir rainloop-data
docker run -d -v "$(pwd):/var/www/html/data/_data_/_default_" gijoe88/rainloop-docker

The default user in the container is with id 1000:1000, but you can change it with the --user parameter of docker run command, so make sure the user inside the container has write access to the host folder:

mkdir rainloop-data
docker run -d -v "$(pwd):/var/www/html/data/_data_/_default_" --user "$(id -u):$(id -g)" gijoe88/rainloop-docker
Configuration of rainloop

By exposing rainloop port on the host (docker run -p 8080:8080), or by going directly to the IP of the container (--name it in docker run command, and then docker container inspect <yourName>), your can access the admin page at /?admin

http://localhost:8080/?admin

http://<containerIP>:8080/?admin

Another solution is to use the data persistence above and modify the file configs/application.ini.

See Rainloop docs for more details.

SSL/HTTPS

Feature not provided yet.

Image Variants

The rainloop-docker images are available by version and by arch. The arch tag is not mandatory, because docker manifests are used (aka multi-arch), the right arch for your system will automagically be downloaded.

rainloop-docker:<version>

This is the defacto image. If you are unsure about what your needs are, you probably want to use this one. It is designed to be used both as a throw away container (mount your source code and start the container to start your app), as well as the base to build other images off of.

rainloop-docker:arch-<version>

Available arch: amd64, armhf, arm64

License

Upstream Rainloop is distributed under GNU AFFERO GENERAL PUBLIC LICENSE Version 3 (AGPLv3), so I'm distributing this image under the same terms.
