graphcorecn/ipu-k8s-device-plugin repository overview

About Graphcore

Graphcore invented the Intelligence Processing Unit (IPU) and the Poplar® SDK to let innovators create the next breakthroughs in machine intelligence.

What is the Kubernetes IPU Device Plugin?

The Kubernetes IPU Device Plugin is a DaemonSet for Kubernetes that allows workloads to use IPUs on Kubernetes via an extended resource. The number of IPUs required for the workload is expressed using the resources.limits and resources.requests resource configuration.

Our user guide has full documentation on how to use the Kubernetes IPU Device Plugin including how to install it.

You can read more about the Device Plugin pattern in the Kubernetes documentation.

Image Tags

The image tags indicate the release, the base OS image used and the date the image was built by Graphcore: <device-plugin-version>-<os-distro>-<os-version>-<build-date>. For example, 0.7.0-ubuntu-20.04-20221208 indicates version 0.7.0, based on an official Ubuntu 20.04 image, built on 8th December 2022. The most recent build of a specific version can be simply referenced by <device-plugin-version>, for example, 0.7.0.

latest always refers to the most recent build of the latest Kubernetes IPU Device Plugin release.

Graphcore may update images following their initial publication. If you wish to pin a specific image, we suggest using the SHA256 of the image and checking Docker Hub regularly for updates.
