Self-hosted HTTP translation API (text and HTML) over Argos Translate; nothing leaves the box
3.8K
A self-hosted HTTP translation API over Argos Translate. It detects a document's language and translates plain text or HTML between any pair of languages Argos has a model for. Models are downloaded on demand and expired on a policy you set. Nothing you send leaves the machine: there is no upstream service, API key or account, and the only outbound traffic is fetching a model the first time a language pair is used.
Documents are streamed rather than wrapped in JSON. HTML comes back byte-identical apart from the translated prose. Every translation is an asynchronous job that survives a restart. The image is FROM scratch (about 156 MB, amd64, CPU only), runs as uid 65532 and has no shell, package manager or libc userland. Releases are signed with cosign. Pin to X.Y.Z, or follow X.Y, X or latest.
