grumpysystems/mc-base repository overview

Minecraft Base Image

This is a docker image that contains base files for bundled Minecraft images. It's built automagically using some other CI jobs.

Versions

This container is built with a weird version syntax due to the fact that 2 people are versioning things. They look like this:

java-17-u0
^^^^ ^^ ^^
  | | |
  | | |- Revision Number (Me)
  | |
  | |- Java version
  |
  |- Always Java

The revision number will increment to indicate changes to this docker container that don't change the Java Major version (like security updates or bug fixes to the container itself).

The Java version will reflect what's inside the container.

For this image, java-xx will be kept up to date with the most recent revision of that Java version. Pick those for your builds, so it's always up to date.

Right now we just build Java 17.

Security updates are triggered in short order, usually with 8-12 hours (depending on the severity and how fast Debian patches).

Building a New Version

These images are built automatically, and those are triggered via Git Tags. The tag is the full container version, and it's parsed. It needs to look like this:

java-<java_version>-<update_version>

You'll need these tools:

To build an image, run ant build. If you specify no versions, some defaults are put in. If you'd like to set a version, set a tag in the format above in the DRONE_TAG environment variable.

Contributing

This repository is mirrored on GitHub from my local Git / CI system. Contributions, issues, etc are welcome here (I monitor things here too). Note, that your commits will not trigger any CI! Please run tests locally to make sure your build passes.
