gunslito/openvasreporting repository overview

This is a Dockerized version of the openvasreporting tool, enabling seamless conversion of OpenVAS XML reports into user-friendly formats such as Excel and Word documents. This containerized approach ensures consistent environments, simplifying deployment and execution across various systems.

How to Use:

Bash

localpath="/path/to/local/folder"
tagversion="latest"

docker run --rm -v ${localpath}:/data gunslito/openvasreporting:${tagversion} -i /data/input.xml -o /data/output.xlsx

Key Features:

  • Automated Report Conversion:
    Transforms OpenVAS-generated XML reports into Excel (.xlsx) or Word (.docx) files, enhancing readability and facilitating data analysis.

  • Customizable Templates:
    Supports the use of personalized Word templates, allowing users to tailor reports to specific formats or branding requirements.

  • Threat Level Filtering:
    Enables filtering of report content based on defined threat levels—none, low, medium, high, or critical—focusing on vulnerabilities that meet specified severity criteria.

Parameters:

  • Volume Mounting (-v /path/to/local/folder:/data)
    Maps a local directory to the container's /data directory for input and output file access.

  • Input File (-i /data/input.xml)
    Specifies the path to the OpenVAS XML report within the container.

  • Output File (-o /data/output.xlsx)
    Defines the desired output file path and name within the container.

  • Output Format (-f) (optional)
    Sets the report format: xlsx for Excel or docx for Word.

  • Minimal Threat Level (-l) (optional)
    Filters vulnerabilities by minimum threat level:

    • n = none
    • l = low
    • m = medium
    • h = high
    • c = critical
  • Template (-t) (optional)
    Specifies a custom Word template for the report.

By leveraging Docker, openvasreporting streamlines the process of converting OpenVAS XML reports into comprehensive documents, ensuring a consistent and efficient workflow across different environments.
