Ships Luanti 5.14 plus Mineclone-style games and curated mods/texture packs. One small PC/NAS runs the containers; kids connect from Linux/Windows with the Luanti client over your home LAN (no Microsoft/Mojang accounts or Internet needed).\n\nIncluded games:\n- **Mineclonia** on port `30000`\n- **VoxeLibre** on port `30001`\n\n## Quick Start (Pre-built Image)\n\n```bash\n# Clone the repository\ngit clone https://github.com/hackboxguy/minetest-home-server.git\ncd minetest-home-server\n\n# Start the server with admin account setup (first-time deployment)\nADMIN_PASSWORD=yourpassword docker-compose up -d\n\n# Or start without admin setup (if admin already exists)\ndocker-compose up -d\n```\n\n**Note:** The `ADMIN_PASSWORD` environment variable creates an admin account with all privileges. You can also specify a custom admin username with `ADMIN_USER=customname` (defaults to \"admin\").\n\n## Build Locally (For Developers)\n\nIf you want to build the Docker image yourself:\n\n```bash\n# First-time deployment with admin setup\nADMIN_PASSWORD=yourpassword docker-compose -f docker-compose.build.yml up -d --build\n\n# Or without admin setup\ndocker-compose -f docker-compose.build.yml up -d --build\n```\n\nAfter building locally, you can also run with the standard compose file by tagging:\n```bash\ndocker tag luanti-home-server:latest hackboxguy/luanti-home-server:latest\ndocker-compose up -d\n```\n\n## Connecting to the Server\n\nPlayers can connect using the Luanti client:\n- `serverip:30000` for **Mineclonia**\n- `serverip:30001` for **VoxeLibre**\n\nReplace `serverip` with the actual IP address or domain name of your server.\n\n## Server Administration\n\n### Admin User Setup\n\nThe admin account is created automatically using environment variables:\n\n```bash\n# Create admin with default username \"admin\"\nADMIN_PASSWORD=yourpassword docker-compose up -d\n\n# Create admin with custom username\nADMIN_USER=myadmin ADMIN_PASSWORD=yourpassword docker-compose up -d\n```\n\nThe admin account is granted **all privileges** automatically, including: fly, noclip, teleport, kick, ban, creative, weather control, server management, and more.\n\n**Re-running with `ADMIN_PASSWORD`** will update the admin password (useful if you forget it).\n\n> **Note:** New user registration from the Luanti client is disabled by default. Only the admin can create new player accounts via the server console.\n\n### Server Console Access\n\nYou can access the server console for administration:\n\n```bash\n# Attach to Mineclonia server console\ndocker attach luanti_mineclonia\n\n# Attach to VoxeLibre server console\ndocker attach luanti_voxelibre\n```\n\nType commands with `/` prefix (e.g., `/status`, `/grant player fly`).\n\nDetach with `Ctrl+P` then `Ctrl+Q`.\n\n### Creating New Player Accounts\n\nSince client registration is disabled, use the server console to create accounts:\n\n```bash\ndocker attach luanti_mineclonia\n/setpassword playername playerpassword\n```\n\nThen grant basic privileges:\n```\n/grant playername interact\n/grant playername shout\n```\n\nOr grant creative mode to specific players:\n```\n/grant playername creative\n```\n\n### Useful Admin Commands\n\n| Command | Description |\n|---------|-------------|\n| `/status` | Show server status and online players |\n| `/setpassword ` | Create account or change password |\n| `/grant ` | Grant privilege to player |\n| `/revoke ` | Revoke privilege from player |\n| `/privs ` | Show player's privileges |\n| `/teleport ` | Teleport player1 to player2 |\n| `/weather clear/rain/thunder` | Change weather |\n| `/kick ` | Kick player from server |\n| `/ban ` | Ban player from server |\n\n## Security\n\n### Registration Disabled by Default\n\nNew user registration from the Luanti client is **blocked by default** using the `no_register` mod. This prevents unauthorized players from creating accounts on your server.\n\n**To create new player accounts**, use the server console:\n```bash\ndocker attach luanti_mineclonia\n/setpassword newplayer theirpassword\n```\n\n### Password Security\n\nEmpty passwords are not allowed (`disallow_empty_password = true` in config). All accounts must have a password set.\n\n## Included Mods\n\n### Server Management Mods\n- **no_register** - Blocks new user registration from client (security)\n- **admin_init** - Auto-creates admin account from environment variables\n\n### Gameplay Mods\n- **spectator_mode** - Spectate other players\n- **animalia** - Wildlife/fauna\n- **i3** - Inventory system\n- **3d_armor** - Armor system\n- **skinsdb** - Player skins\n- **awards** - Achievement popups/goals\n- **protector** - Plot protection\n- **worldedit** - Admin building tools\n- **travelnet** - Simple portals for hubs/bases\n- **lootchests** - Surprise treasure drops\n- **ambience** - Ambient sounds\n\n## Included Texture Packs\n\n- **Soothing 32** - 32x texture pack\n- **RPG 16** - 16x texture pack\n- **Less Dirt** - Texture adjustments\n\n## Recommended for Families\n\nThis is an all-in-one setup ideal for families with kids who prefer to keep all players within the home network boundary(offline - disconnected from the Internet).\n\n## Stopping the Server\n\n```bash\ndocker-compose down\n```\n\n## Upgrading\n\nTo pull the latest version:\n\n```bash\ndocker-compose pull\ndocker-compose up -d\n```\n## Source code\nhttps://github.com/hackboxguy/minetest-home-server.git\n\nEnjoy your Luanti gaming experience!\n","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_79":11,"_80":81},"enabled","rules",[82],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_86":21,"_87":11,"_88":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",3289357655,"orgData","recentTags",[95],{"_96":49,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_101":102,"_103":104,"_105":106,"_55":122,"_123":98,"_124":33,"_125":61,"_43":126,"_127":128,"_129":113,"_130":122,"_131":69,"_132":21},"content_type","creator",31699320,"digest","sha256:8c941c1c3f71a31e07d3d294a855349719590f158721fbc01453bf56a76b1991","full_size",188325986,"id",1040059506,"images",[107],{"_108":109,"_99":100,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":115,"_116":117,"_118":111,"_119":-5,"_120":102,"_67":69,"_121":-5},"architecture","amd64","features","","last_pulled","2026-10-02T20:31:50.14995092Z","last_pushed","2026-01-05T22:42:02.64234414Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size","variant","2026-01-05T22:42:03.02298Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",29619299,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":146,"_154":155,"_140":164,"_165":11},{"_40":147,"_47":149,"_50":51,"_52":53,"_54":11,"_55":56,"_57":58,"_59":150,"_43":35,"_32":33,"_62":63,"_64":49,"_65":66,"_67":66,"_68":69,"_70":-5,"_71":72,"_73":74,"_75":11,"_76":33,"_77":151,"_83":11,"_84":153,"_89":33,"_90":91},[148],{"_43":44,"_45":46},[49],[61],{"_79":11,"_80":152},[82],{"_86":21,"_87":11,"_88":11},"tags",{"_156":66,"_157":-5,"_158":-5,"_159":160},"count","next","previous","results",[161],{"_96":49,"_97":98,"_99":100,"_101":102,"_103":104,"_105":162,"_55":122,"_123":98,"_124":33,"_125":61,"_43":126,"_127":128,"_129":113,"_130":122,"_131":69,"_132":21},[163],{"_108":109,"_99":100,"_110":111,"_112":113,"_114":115,"_116":117,"_118":111,"_119":-5,"_120":102,"_67":69,"_121":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
