A Self-Sufficient/Self-Hosted Minetest Home Server
207
This repository contains the necessary files to generate a Docker container for Minetest server that includes popular games, mods, and textures. The container builds the latest versions of Minetest and its corresponding mods, games, and textures from sources. It is configured to serve:
3000030001Follow these steps to set up the Minetest server:
Update the system package list:
sudo apt-get update
Install required dependencies:
sudo apt-get install git docker.io docker-compose
Add your user to the Docker group (requires re-login to take effect):
sudo usermod -aG docker $USER
Clone this repository:
git clone https://github.com/hackboxguy/minetest-home-server.git
Navigate to the project directory:
cd minetest-home-server
Start the server:
docker-compose up -d
Now multiple players can connect to this server at port:30000(mineclonia) and port:30001(voxelibre)
To Stop the server:
docker-compose down
Multiple players can connect to the server at:
serverip:30000 for Minecloniaserverip:30001 for VoxelibreReplace serverip with the actual IP address or domain name of your server.
Its an all-in-one setup ideal for families with kids who prefer to keep all players within the home network boundary.
Once your Minetest server is deployed and all users are registered via their Minetest clients, it is recommended to disable further user registration by adding disallow_empty_password = true in config/mineclonia.conf and config/voxelibre.conf files(after changing these conf files, stop and restart the server as shown in step 7 and 6 above)
config/mineclonia.conf and config/voxelibre.conf files includes a pre-configured admin user with all privileges.admin using the Minetest client and set a new password.Docker file and corresponding docker-compose.yml are available on my github-repo
Enjoy your Minetest gaming experience!
