Docker Image Description:

This Docker image allows you to run the Firefox browser in a container with Java support. It has been configured to integrate with the host’s display environment (X11), enabling Firefox to run with a graphical interface directly from the container.

How to Use the Image:

To start the container with Firefox, use the following command:

sudo docker run -ti --rm \
    -e DISPLAY=$DISPLAY \
    -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix \
    -v $HOME/.Xauthority:/home/developer/.Xauthority \
    -v $HOME/Downloads:/home/developer/Downloads \
    hammebsb/firefox_java_enabled:latest /bin/bash

Explanation of parameters:

• -e DISPLAY=$DISPLAY: exports the host’s DISPLAY environment variable to the container.
• -v /tmp/.X11-unix:/tmp/.X11-unix: allows the container to access the host’s display server.
• -v $HOME/.Xauthority:/home/developer/.Xauthority: shares the X11 authorization file to enable display access.
• -v $HOME/Downloads:/home/developer/Downloads: mounts the host’s downloads folder inside the container.

Once inside the container, start Firefox by running:

firefox/firefox

This will open the Firefox version inside the container.

Note: Do not update Firefox within the container to avoid conflicts with the current configuration.
