Tag 1.0.3 Launch a simple Express js server on localhost (no volume)
This is a repository to lean how to build your own image.
Your will find a basic Dockerfile adding some Linux packages and a lanuching a Simple Express server displaying Hello Wold
Install docker on your system:
Use docker on your system
Get image from docker hub:
docker pull infinitydevops/express:1.0.3
Run image into container:
docker run --name express -p 8081:8080 -d infinitydevops/express:1.0.3
docker ps (checking if it's well started)
docker logs express (see what happend in the container )
And finaly visit on your machine:
Get into started container with terminal:
docker exec -ti express /bin/sh
Uninstall
docker stop express
docker rm express
docker rmi infinitydevops/express:1.0.3
Get the source code and see a basic Dockerfile and project
Rebuild this image with your modifications
browse to your code folder
git clone https://github.com/cyril-vassallo/docker-node.git (branche: TAG-1.0.3)
cd path/to/dockerize-express
make any modifications you would like, (add linux package, node dependencies ...)
change "version": "1.0.3" to "version": "1.0.4" in package.json
docker build --tag your-docker-user-name/express:1.0.4 ./
run and test your image as previewsly exmplained
create your docker account on https://hub.docker.com/ and sign-in
create a docker repository like so : your-docker-user-name/express (use docker hub web interface )
docker push your-docker-user-name/express:1.0.4
finaly archive your code on repository on gitHub or gitLab
Congratulation you are initiate to docker basics commands and you just created your first docker image !!

Docker-compose version
Tag 1.0.6 is similar to Tag 1.0.3 but the difference is implementation of docker-compose.yml and a mounted volume on src folder
