⁠PHP-FPM

⁠User and group ID

PHP-FPM daemon in this image runs as user and group php with UID 1005 and GID 1005.

⁠Application directory

By default, PHP-FPM in this image expects the application code to be mounted in /app directory within the container.

⁠Exposed ports

By default, this image exposes two ports:

• 9000/TCP - PHP-FPM pool listen port.
• 9001/TCP - PHP-FPM pool pm.status_listen port.

⁠Environment variables

• PHP_INI_⁠: php.ini parameters.
• PHP_FPM_GLOBAL_⁠: global PHP-FPM parameters.
• PHP_FPM_POOL_⁠: PHP-FPM pool parameters.
• PHP_DISABLED_EXT⁠: comma-separated list of extensions that should be disabled.

⁠PHP_INI_

Environment variables with PHP_INI_ name prefix are used to set new or update existing PHP-FPM parameters within the [PHP] section of /etc/php/fpm/php.ini configuration file.

For example, variable defined as

PHP_INI_MEMORY_LIMIT=2G
PHP_INI_MAX_INPUT_VARS=5000

will be translated as:

memory_limit=2G
max_input_vars=5000

⁠PHP_FPM_GLOBAL_

Environment variables with PHP_FPM_GLOBAL_ name prefix are used to set new or update existing PHP-FPM parameters within the [global] section of the /etc/php/fpm/php-fpm.conf configuration file.

For example, variable defined as

PHP_FPM_GLOBAL_LOG_LIMIT=8192

will be translated as:

log_limit=8192

⁠PHP_FPM_POOL_

Environment variables with PHP_FPM_POOL_ name prefix are used to set new or update existing PHP-FPM parameters within default www PHP-FPM pool in /etc/php/fpm/pool.d/www.conf configuration file.

For example, variable defined as

PHP_FPM_POOL_LISTEN=/sock/php.sock

will be translated as:

listen=/sock/php.sock

⁠PHP_DISABLED_EXT

Pre-installed PHP extensions⁠ can be disabled with PHP_DISABLED_EXT environment variable. This variable can contain a comma-separated list of extensions. E.g.:

PHP_DISABLED_EXT=opcache,excimer
