This service is meant to be used as the [service handler](https://www.itb.ec.europa.eu/docs/tdl/latest/introduction/index.html#introduction-concepts-messaging-handlers) for GITB TDL [processing transactions](https://www.itb.ec.europa.eu/docs/tdl/latest/constructs/index.html#bptxn), to realise [process](https://www.itb.ec.europa.eu/docs/tdl/latest/constructs/index.html#process) steps.\n\nThis image is maintained by the **European Commission's DIGIT** and specifically the **Interoperability Test Bed**, a conformance testing service for projects involved in the delivery of cross-border public services. Find out more [here](https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/collection/interoperability-test-bed-repository/solution/interoperability-test-bed).\n\n# Capabilities\n\nThe purpose of this service is to extract information from a ZIP archive:\n* Obtain the **table of contents** of a provided archive.\n* **Extract** one or more files from the archive based on provided search criteria.\n\nThis component functions as a **stateful** processing service, with extraction operations carried out within the scope of a [processing transaction](https://www.itb.ec.europa.eu/docs/tdl/latest/constructs/index.html#bptxn). This allows the ZIP archive to be provided once to the service and then maintained as state across calls to efficiently carry out several extraction operations. The archive in question is removed once the processing transaction or the overall test session ends.\n\nThe operations supported by the service are listed in the following table:\n\n| Operation | Description | Input(s) | Output(s) |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `initialize` | Provide the ZIP archive to the service for subsequent extraction operations. | Yes | A `map` with two elements (`entries`: a `number` representing the count of entries included in the archive; `entryPaths`: a `string` including a summary of the included paths, listing them one by one in square brackets) |\n| `extract` | Extract one or more files from the archive. | Yes | A `map` containing three entries (`matched`: a `boolean` representing if matches were made; `entries`: a `number` representing the count of entries that were matched; `entry`: a `list` with one item per matched entry). Each item in the `entry` list (corresponding to a matched entry) is a `map` with two further fields (`path`, a `string` with the file's precise path; `content`: the `binary` content of the file) |\n\nThe input parameters expected by the different operations are as follows:\n\n| Operation | Input name | Required? | Description |\n|---|---|---|---|\n| `initialize` | `zip` | Yes | A `binary` input for the archive to process. |\n| `extract` | `path` | Yes | A `string` with the path of the archive's entry (or entries) to return. |\n| `case` | `path` | No | A `string` set as \"true\" or \"false\" (the default) specifying whether the path matching should be case sensitive. |\n| `match` | `path` | No | A `string` set as \"exact\" or \"regexp\" (the default) specifying whether the path should be considered for an exact match or as a regular expression. |\n\n# Configuration and deployment\n\nTo deploy this service the simplest approach is to use it via [Docker Compose](https://docs.docker.com/compose/). The following is a sample `docker-compose.yml` file to use for its deployment that represents the minimum configuration needed:\n\n```\nversion: '2'\n\nservices:\n zip-processing:\n image: isaitb/zip-processing:latest\n restart: unless-stopped\n ports:\n - \"8080:8080\"\n```\n\nRegarding the configuration of the service, the key points to take into account are the following:\n* The internal port on which the service is listening on is `8080`. This needs to be mapped to your host or accessed directly if within the same Docker network.\n* The web application context used by the service is `/zip`.\n\nThe following table lists the supported configuration properties that can be used as environment variables as well as any assumed defaults:\n\n| Variable | Description | Default value |\n|---|---|---|\n| processing.dataFolder | The folder under which uploaded ZIP archives will be temporarily maintained for ongoing test sessions. | `/processor/tmp` |\n| processing.sessionTimeOut | The maximum time (in hours) provided archives will be retained for active test sessions. | `24` |\n\nIn addition, is it interesting to note that the service is implemented using [Spring Boot](https://spring.io/projects/spring-boot) and as such any standard [Spring Boot configuration properties](https://docs.spring.io/spring-boot/docs/current/reference/html/application-properties.html) can also be similarly set via environment variables. Properties you may consider to override are relevant to `logging`, the `server.servlet.context-path` (set by default to `/zip`) and the `server.port` (set by default to `8080`).\n\nOnce your `docker-compose.yml` file has been prepared to match your environment you may start the service using `docker compose up -d`. Assuming a deployment using the default configuration on your localhost's port 8080, the service will be available at `http://localhost:8080/zip/api/processing`. This means that when used in the Test Bed as a messaging handler (which requires the WSDL address), this would be provided as `http://localhost:8080/zip/api/processing?wsdl`.\n\n# Use within GITB TDL test cases\n\nThe following code sample explains how to use the service from GITB TDL test cases.\n\n```\n\n \n \n \n \n $archiveContent\n \t\t\n \n \n 'META-INF/manifest.xml'\n 'exact'\n 'false'\n \n \n \"Extracted \" || $zip{entries} || \" file(s)\"\n \n \n \n\n```\n\n# Licence\n\nThis tool is shared using the [European Union Public Licence (EUPL) version 1.2](https://joinup.ec.europa.eu/sites/default/files/custom-page/attachment/eupl_v1.2_en.pdf).\n \n# Legal notice\n\nThe authors of this tool waive any and all liability linked to its usage. In terms of data, the tool does not harvest, collect or process in any way data nor does it maintain any state besides the temporary storage of archives for the duration of active processing transactions.\n\n# Contact\n\nTo get in touch for feedback or questions please send an email to DIGIT-ITB@ec.europa.eu.","has_starred","hub_user","immutable_tags_settings",{"_85":11,"_86":87},"enabled","rules",[88],".*","is_automated","permissions",{"_92":21,"_93":11,"_94":11},"read","write","admin","user","storage_size",16899652495,"orgData","recentTags",[101],{"_102":55,"_103":104,"_105":106,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":112,"_61":145,"_146":104,"_147":33,"_148":67,"_43":149,"_150":151,"_152":120,"_153":145,"_154":76,"_155":21},"content_type","creator",637659,"digest","sha256:913f1665af36b6a2df06539a4dfc81c31e504f1831a274b67d67734364641816","full_size",158225997,"id",14310051,"images",[113,130,135,141],{"_114":115,"_105":116,"_117":118,"_119":120,"_121":122,"_123":124,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":128,"_73":76,"_129":-5},"architecture","amd64","sha256:17a082abb5f2fa596d3cf31708448f2cfd12e9f1d56590870e26e3786fc5226e","features","","last_pulled","2026-10-18T03:41:05.896960071Z","last_pushed","2026-10-12T06:47:17.261863315Z","os","linux","os_features","os_version","size",161481995,"variant",{"_114":131,"_105":132,"_117":118,"_119":133,"_121":134,"_123":124,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":108,"_73":76,"_129":-5},"arm64","sha256:9e6bc211e9795ac329ee68db77c1e2e5a24b9686041d09b7d676ad6a455637f8","2026-10-16T21:40:48.010458426Z","2026-10-12T06:47:16.662457746Z",{"_114":136,"_105":137,"_117":118,"_119":138,"_121":139,"_123":136,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":140,"_73":76,"_129":-5},"unknown","sha256:d34e50638ae3ed95ce90e71395a4b69666ed46ae52084f96317f21a09b8f3de4","2026-10-16T21:40:48.023874279Z","2026-10-12T06:47:17.792665903Z",1236,{"_114":136,"_105":142,"_117":118,"_119":143,"_121":144,"_123":136,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":140,"_73":76,"_129":-5},"sha256:59364743c4cd2d3c8a7ac2b47174c2b9215f2dc3b54eeeea4e743675d43455ec","2026-10-16T21:40:48.011267452Z","2026-10-12T06:47:18.210080564Z","2026-10-12T06:47:18.989447Z","last_updater","last_updater_username","media_type","latest","repository",1753202,"tag_last_pulled","tag_last_pushed","tag_status","v2","sbxKitMetadata","isPotentialSpam","isHubSbxKitsEnabled","showSbxRunInCloud","showSbxLogoOverride","sbxTrademarkText","displaySecurityMetadata","tagAttestations","tagsHaveAttestations",[],"selectedTag","attestationsUrl","routes/_layout.r.$namespace.$reponame.tags",{"_38":170,"_180":181,"_164":193,"_194":11},{"_40":171,"_53":175,"_56":57,"_58":59,"_60":11,"_61":62,"_63":64,"_65":176,"_43":35,"_32":33,"_68":69,"_70":55,"_71":72,"_73":74,"_75":76,"_77":-5,"_78":72,"_79":80,"_81":11,"_82":33,"_83":177,"_89":11,"_90":179,"_95":33,"_96":97},[172,173,174],{"_43":44,"_45":46},{"_43":48,"_45":49},{"_43":51,"_45":52},[55],[67],{"_85":11,"_86":178},[88],{"_92":21,"_93":11,"_94":11},"tags",{"_182":74,"_183":-5,"_184":-5,"_185":186},"count","next","previous","results",[187],{"_102":55,"_103":104,"_105":106,"_107":108,"_109":110,"_111":188,"_61":145,"_146":104,"_147":33,"_148":67,"_43":149,"_150":151,"_152":120,"_153":145,"_154":76,"_155":21},[189,190,191,192],{"_114":115,"_105":116,"_117":118,"_119":120,"_121":122,"_123":124,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":128,"_73":76,"_129":-5},{"_114":131,"_105":132,"_117":118,"_119":133,"_121":134,"_123":124,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":108,"_73":76,"_129":-5},{"_114":136,"_105":137,"_117":118,"_119":138,"_121":139,"_123":136,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":140,"_73":76,"_129":-5},{"_114":136,"_105":142,"_117":118,"_119":143,"_121":144,"_123":136,"_125":118,"_126":-5,"_127":140,"_73":76,"_129":-5},[],"canDeleteTags","actionData","errors"]
