⁠DSpace Builder

Build DSpace⁠ using Docker. This image does not give a built version of DSpace, but helps you build your own version. You can add custom source to merge with the official code downloaded from GitHub official DSpace code⁠ with the help of ONBUILD⁠ instructions.

Create a new Dockerfile referring to a specific version

FROM itsziget/dspace/dspace-builder:v1.0.0-rc.1 as builder

and place your custom code into "srcCustom" directory next to your Dockerfile.

As the result of the build the built DSpace code can be found in the image in /app/dspace without the applications which are in /dspace-webapps.

⁠OnBuild arguments

• APP_NAME: (default: "xmlui") Which application you want to build. To build more application, set them separated by space. Currently, all apps will be built but those you do not set will be removed from the image. The rest of them are moved to "/dspace-webapps" so the tomcat image builder can copy only those you need without causing one additional layer per application or increasing the size of the final image unnecessarily.

⁠Running DSpace

If you want to run DSpace in containers, you can use dspace-tomcat⁠

It is shipped with custom start scripts and configuration templates. However, you can create your own tomcat image if you want.
