Creating the container for the 32-bit ARM architecture
233
This is a Docker container for MariaDB 10.3 branch for 32-bit ARM architecture. It's meant to run on Raspberry Pi (or similar). It is based on a Dockerfile from the official MariaDB repository on GitHub.
The official Docker repository does not contain an image for 32-bit ARM Operating Systems. Using the aforementioned Dockerfile to compile an image on my own does not work. I'm not sure about the reason.
Just remove the binding from a certain version. I am not sure why that works.
Fetch the official repository:
git clone https://github.com/MariaDB/mariadb-docker
cd mariadb-docker/10.3
Somewhere around line 100 in the Dockerfile for 10.3, change the line:
"mariadb-server=$MARIADB_VERSION" \
to:
mariadb-server \
After that, the compilation process works and this is how this repository came into existence.
Extract the MariaDB version from the code:
export VERSION=$(cat Dockerfile | grep ENV | grep MARIADB_VERSION | cut -d\: -f2 | sed -e 's/+maria~/-/')
echo MariaDB version is $VERSION
Build the container image with the appropriate tag:
docker build -t "mariadb:$VERSION" .
Why not doing this for MariaDB 10.4 or 10.5 branches too? Well, I tried to, but it did not work, not sure what to do about it. You may want to check this official note.
