jeffersonbenson/egg-decoder repository overview

Egg Decoder

This project is based on Nathan Wyand's Egg Decoder. It has been dockerized and uploaded here for others to play around with.

The decoder works by breaking down the code found on a standard US carton of eggs to determine the approximate location the eggs were harvested and about how long they are still good for.

Of course all values are approximate, though based on proper data science and several verified sources.

Notable Changes

There are only a few places where the dockerized code differs from the original source code from Nathan. Most notably the app.run section of run.py was modified so app.run("0.0.0.0", port=80, debug=True) was added. This sets the host properly when interacting with the Docker daemon.

Additionally the requirements.txt file has been modified to remove psycopg2 which has been installed as a precompiled binary. Also, pkg-resources==0.0.0 was removed from the file as it was found to cause issues with the build process.
