jhasensio/slowhttptest repository overview

jhasensio/slowhttptest

Ultra-slim (5.6MB) SlowHTTPTest v1.9 with full SNI support.

This image provides a high-performance, minimal-footprint build of slowhttptest. Unlike older 1.8.x versions found in many repositories, this build is compiled from the latest source (v1.9) to correctly handle Server Name Indication (SNI). This is critical for testing modern Virtual Hosting environments, Cloudfront/ALBs, and SNI-based routing.

🚀 Key Features

  • Minimalist Build: Based on Alpine Linux (only 5.62MB).
  • SNI Ready: Properly populates the server_name extension in TLS handshakes.
  • Latest v1.9: Includes modern TLS 1.3 logic and stability fixes.
  • Direct Entrypoint: The container acts as a native CLI tool.

🚀 Typical Intensity Values

ProfileConnections (-c)Rate (-r)Use Case
LOW1,00050Application logic & timeout testing.
MEDIUM5,000200Proxy & SNI routing stress test.
HIGH20,000500High-capacity Load Balancer/WAF testing.

🛠 Usage Example (SNI & High Concurrency)

To test a target using virtual hosting where the FQDN is not in public DNS, use the --add-host and --ulimit flags:

docker run -it --rm \
  --ulimit nofile=25000:25000 \
  --add-host sni-child.example.local:192.168.1.52 \
  jhasensio/slowhttptest:latest \
  -u https://sni-child.example.local \
  -c 20000 \
  -r 500 \
  -H -i 10 -g -o /tmp/test_results
