johnnyb61820/jstoolkit repository overview

Linux + basic utilities for network management in order to do the demos from the book "Programming for Absolute Beginners Using JavaScript" by Jonathan Bartlett. Because Docker Desktop doesn't have good support for images that require interactive mode, if you are running using Docker Desktop, use the version tagged as "desktop". This version will leave the container running in Docker Desktop and you can use the "Exec" tab to actually access the container.

This image also has NodeJS installed, so you can use the image parameters to run a Node application. For instance, if you mirror your local directory to /app, and you have a JavaScript file named server.js, you can add the arguments node /app/server.js to the Docker command line to run your script. If you do this, be sure to proxy any needed port to your local machine using the standard Docker -p option.
