The code used to generate this repo can be found at https://github.com/jtgeibel/docker-ruby⁠.

All of the rubies are stored under /opt/rubies. None of these rubies are on the PATH so you must specify the full path.

docker run -i -t jtgeibel/ruby /opt/rubies/2.3/bin/irb

Or you can add something like the following to your Dockerfile. This also assumes that you're deploying your application under the /srv/app folder.

ENV PATH /srv/app/bin:/srv/app/vendor/bundle/bin:/opt/rubies/2.3/bin:/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin
