⁠pgvector

PostgreSQL with pgvector⁠, pg_textsearch⁠, and RUM⁠ extensions, plus support for creating multiple databases on startup.

Based on the official pgvector/pgvector⁠ image.

⁠What's included

• pgvector — open-source vector similarity search for PostgreSQL
• pg_textsearch — full-text search improvements by Timescale
• RUM — inverted index access method with positional information in posting lists
• Multi-database init script — create extra databases at startup, each with extensions pre-installed

⁠Quick start

docker run -e POSTGRES_USER=app -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=secret \
  juroapp/pgvector:latest

⁠Multiple databases

Set POSTGRES_EXTRA_DBS to a space-separated list of database names. Each database is created with the same owner (POSTGRES_USER) and has vector, pg_trgm, pg_textsearch, and rum extensions enabled automatically.

docker run -e POSTGRES_USER=app -e POSTGRES_PASSWORD=secret \
  -e POSTGRES_EXTRA_DBS="db_one db_two" \
  juroapp/pgvector:latest

This creates:

• The primary database (from POSTGRES_DB or defaults to POSTGRES_USER)
• db_one and db_two

All databases have the vector, pg_trgm, pg_textsearch, and rum extensions enabled.

All standard PostgreSQL Docker image⁠ environment variables are supported, plus:
