Alpine Linux based Elasticsearch⁠ Docker Image

⁠Why?

• Built from blacktop/elasticsearch:6.8.2 Dockerfile
• Compatible with ARM architecture
• Run on latest Raspberry Pi 4
• Smaller than official image

Compare Image Sizes:

• official elasticsearch = 807 MB
• blacktop/elasticsearch = 289 MB

blacktop version is 518 MB smaller !

⁠Dependencies

• alpine:3.10⁠

⁠Getting Started

$ docker run -d --name elasticsearch -p 9200:9200 -p 9300:9300 -e "discovery.type=single-node" karlhendrik/elasticsearch:6.8.2

⁠Known Issues :warning:

I have noticed when running the new 5.0+ version on a linux host you need to increase the memory map areas with the following command

sudo sysctl -w vm.max_map_count=262144
