kdidtech/discord-audio-bot repository overview

kdidtech/discord-audio-bot Docker Hub Overview

Overview

The kdidtech/discord-audio-bot is a lightweight Docker container designed to run a Discord bot that plays audio files. This pre-configured image simplifies deployment and ensures the bot remains online with automatic restart capabilities.

Features

  • Pre-built Docker image for quick deployment.
  • Supports linux/amd64 and linux/arm64 architectures.
  • Configurable using environment variables.
  • Automatic container restarts with restart: always.

Docker Compose Example

Save the following as docker-compose.yml (recommended, click here for more info):

services:
  audio-bot:
    image: kdidtech/discord-audio-bot:latest
    environment:
      - DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN=your-discord-bot-token-here
    volumes:
      - your-audio-data-directory:/app/data/audio/sounds
    restart: always
  1. Replace your-discord-bot-token-here with your actual Discord bot token.

  2. Replace your-audio-data-directory with the actual path to your audio data directory.

  3. Start the bot using Docker Compose:

    docker-compose up -d

  4. Verify the bot is running:

    docker-compose ps

This configuration will pull the latest image, configure the environment variables, and ensure the bot restarts automatically if it stops or if the host reboots.

CLI Usage

To run the container without docker-compose, use the following command:

docker run -d \
  --name discord-audio-bot \
  -e DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN=your-discord-bot-token-here \
  -v your-audio-data-directory:/app/data/audio/sounds \
  --restart always \
  kdidtech/discord-audio-bot:latest

Replace your-discord-bot-token-here with your actual Discord bot token.
Replace your-audio-data-directory with the actual path to your audio data directory.

Environment Variables

  • DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN (Required):

This variable holds your Discord bot token, which is required to authenticate your bot with the Discord API.

Deployment Steps

  1. Pull the Image:
    docker pull kdidtech/discord-audio-bot:latest

  2. Run the Container:
Use either the Docker Compose or CLI method described above.
  3. Verify the Bot:
Check your Discord server to ensure the bot is online and playing audio.

Supported Platforms

  • linux/amd64: Standard desktop/server environments.
  • linux/arm64: ARM-based devices like Raspberry Pi.

Restart Policy

The restart: always directive ensures the container restarts automatically if:

  • The container crashes.
  • The host machine reboots.

This ensures the bot remains online with minimal intervention.

Troubleshooting

  • Check Logs: If the bot fails to start, view the logs for more details:
    docker logs discord-audio-bot

  • Verify Token: Ensure the DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN environment variable is correctly set.

  • With kdidtech/discord-audio-bot, bringing music and sound to your Discord server is a breeze. Whether you're using Docker Compose or the command line, this image ensures your audio bot is always ready to play, entertain, and enhance your server experience. 🎶
