kdidtech/discord-todo-bot Docker Hub Overview

Overview

The kdidtech/discord-todo-bot is a lightweight Docker container designed to run a Discord bot that helps users manage to-do tasks. This pre-configured image simplifies deployment and ensures the bot remains online with automatic restart capabilities.

Features

  • Pre-built Docker Image: Ready-to-use image for quick deployment.
  • Multi-Architecture Support: Compatible with linux/amd64 (standard desktops/servers) and linux/arm64 (ARM-based devices like Raspberry Pi).
  • Configurable: Uses environment variables for easy setup.
  • Automatic Restart: Ensures the bot stays online with the restart: always policy.

Docker Compose Example

Save the following as docker-compose.yml (recommended for easier management):

services:
  discord-bot:
    image: kdidtech/discord-todo-bot:latest
    environment:
      - DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN=your-discord-bot-token-here
    volumes:
      - ./data/:/app/data/
    restart: always
  1. Replace your-discord-bot-token-here with your actual Discord bot token.

  2. (Optional) Replace your-checklist-directory with your actual directory location where your chechlists.json file is.

  3. Start the bot using Docker Compose:

    docker-compose up -d

  4. Verify the bot is running:

    docker-compose ps

CLI Usage

To run the container without Docker Compose, use the following command:

docker run -d \
  --name discord-todo-bot \
  -e DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN=your-discord-bot-token-here \
  -v your-checklist-directory:/app/data/ \
  --restart always \
  kdidtech/discord-todo-bot:latest
  • Replace your-discord-bot-token-here with your actual Discord bot token.
  • (Optional) Replace your-checklist-directory with your actual directory location where your chechlists.json file is.

Environment Variables

  • DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN (Required):
This variable holds your Discord bot token, which is required to authenticate your bot with the Discord API.

Deployment Steps

  1. Pull the Image:
     docker pull kdidtech/discord-todo-bot:latest

  2. Run the Container:
Use either the Docker Compose or CLI method described above.
  3. Verify the Bot:
Check your Discord server to ensure the bot is online and playing audio.

Supported Platforms

  • linux/amd64: Standard desktop/server environments.
  • linux/arm64: ARM-based devices like Raspberry Pi.

Restart Policy

The restart: always directive ensures the container restarts automatically in the following cases:

  • The container crashes.
  • The host machine reboots.

This ensures the bot remains online with minimal intervention.

Troubleshooting

  • Check Logs: If the bot fails to start, view the logs for more details:

  • docker logs discord-todo-bot

  • Verify Token: Ensure the DISCORD_BOT_TOKEN environment variable is correctly set.

  • With kdidtech/discord-todo-bot, managing your to-do lists on Discord has never been easier. Whether you're using Docker Compose or the command line, this image provides a reliable and efficient way to keep your tasks organized and your productivity on track. 🚀
