Landlord is targeted at reducing the costs of supporting the JVM when running in production. Landlord provides the ability to run multiple, cgroup-contained JVM based applications on the one JVM thereby conserving resident memory with little burden on the developer. This sharing is otherwise known as "multi tenancy", hence the name, "Landlord". :-) The more that can be shared, the less memory is required on a single machine, the more services that can be run, the less machines required, the more money saved, the better the planet given the reduced energy requirements.
