latrina/rsyslog repository overview

Rsyslog client+server images

The aim of this project is to deploy a rsyslog-server and a rsyslog-client image with a very minimal configuration to serve as a base and/or for testing purposes.

The rsyslog-server image listens on port 514/UDP for incoming messages, while the rsyslog-client is configured to forward all messages to the rsyslog-server.

The rsyslog-client container requires the IP address or DNS name of the rsyslog-server to be passed through the RSYSLOGSRVIP variable; otherwise, it will default to localhost.

Examples:

docker-cli

docker run -d --name server latrina/rsyslog:server
IP=$(docker container inspect server | grep '"IPAddress":' | tail -1 | awk -F'"' '{print $4}'); docker run -d --name client -e RSYSLOGSRVIP="$IP" latrina/rsyslog:client

docker-compose

spec:
      containers:
      - name: rsyslog-client
        image: latrina/rsyslog:client
        env:
        - name: RSYSLOGSRVIP
          value: "CHANGE_ME!!!"

Dockerfile and configuration files can be found here.
