⁠Use the Ubuntu base image

FROM ubuntu:24.04

⁠Update package lists and install necessary tools

RUN apt-get update && apt-get install -y
htop
net-tools
traceroute
openssh-server
&& apt-get clean
&& rm -rf /var/lib/apt/lists/*

⁠Set hostname

RUN echo "net-tool" > /etc/hostname

⁠Start SSH service

RUN service ssh start

⁠Expose SSH port for remote access

EXPOSE 22

⁠Set the default command to launch bash shell

CMD ["/bin/bash"]

⁠Run command:

docker run -it --name net-tools -p 2222:22 leanpaul/net-tools
