Easily and quickly test your code with Linty.
This Docker image can be run on a machine:
Docker requirements are detailed here.
Run the following command:
docker run -d \
--name linty \
-p 9000:9000 \
lintyservices/linty-test
Follow the Linty platform startup logs with: docker logs -f linty. The Linty platform is up and running as soon as you
see:
=========================================
The Linty platform is up and running.
=========================================
Then, navigate to http://localhost:9000 to verify that the Linty platform is up and running. Credentials: admin /
LintyPass123!
From the root directory of your HDL project, run a scan of your code:
docker run \
--rm \
--net=host \
--user="$(id -u):$(id -g)" \
-e SONAR_HOST_URL="http://localhost:9000" \
-e SONAR_TOKEN="$(docker exec linty cat /opt/sonarqube/data/admin-token.txt)" \
-v "$(pwd):/usr/src" \
lintyservices/linty-scanner \
-Dsonar.core.id=LINTY_TEST \
-Dsonar.projectKey=test \
-Dsonar.sources=.
Navigate to http://localhost:9000/dashboard?id=test to browse the scan results.
See Scan Your Code documentation page for more details.
docker container stop linty
docker container start linty
docker container stop linty
docker container rm linty
Then return to the Start the Linty Platform section.
It also works with Podman. Just replace the above docker commands with podman.
Example error:
permission denied while trying to connect to the docker API at unix:///var/run/docker.sock
Run docker command with sudo: sudo docker run ...
or manage Docker as non-root user.
Example error:
docker: Error response from daemon: failed to set up container networking: driver failed programming external connectivity on endpoint linty (617391ed75656a8a65ee4d5a9d2a49bb1e76cd79a6cf06fc206c5a6f2e5785d5): failed to bind host port for 0.0.0.0:9000:172.17.0.3:9001/tcp: address already in use
Change the host port to an available port (example below uses port 8999):
docker run -d \
--name linty \
-p 8999:9000 \
lintyservices/linty-test:latest
Remember to update the scan command with the new port:
docker run \
...
-e SONAR_HOST_URL="http://localhost:8999" \
...
lintyservices/linty-scanner \
...
Also update the Linty platform URL accordingly (e.g. http://localhost:8999/dashboard?id=test).
Run the following PowerShell command:
docker run -d `
--name linty `
-p 9000:9000 `
lintyservices/linty-test
Follow the Linty platform startup logs with: docker logs -f linty. The Linty platform is up and running as soon as you
see:

Then, navigate to http://localhost:9000 to verify that the Linty platform is up and running. Credentials: admin /

-e SONAR_TOKEN="$(docker exec linty cat /opt/sonarqube/data/admin-token.txt)" `
-v "$(pwd):/usr/src" `
lintyservices/linty-scanner `
-D"sonar.core.id"=LINTY_TEST `
-D"sonar.projectKey"=test `
-D"sonar.sources"=.
Navigate to http://localhost:9000/dashboard?id=test to browse the scan results.
