lsmoura/couchdb-alpine repository overview

Apache CouchDB running on Alpine linux server

Dockerfile

How to use this image

Start a CouchDB instance

$ docker run -d --name my-couchdb lsmoura/couchdb-alpine This image includes EXPOSE 5984 (the CouchDB port), so standard container linking will make it automatically available to the linked containers.

Using the instance

In order to use the running instance from an application, link the container

$ docker run --name my-couchdb-app --link my-couchdb:couch lsmoura/couchdb-alpine

The node will start in admin party mode!

Exposing the port to the outside world

If you want to expose the port to the outside world, run

$ docker run -p 5984:5984 -d lsmoura/couchdb-alpine CouchDB listens on port 5984 for requests and the image includes EXPOSE 5984. The flag -p 5984:5984 exposes this port on the host.

WARNING: Do not do this until you have established an admin user and setup permissions correctly on any databases you have created.

Erlang

This image uses Erlang 19.3 compiled from source, specifically for this image.

SpiderMonkey

This image uses SpiderMonkey 1.8.5 compiled and patched from source, specifically for this image.

Notes

Most of the description was adapted from the official CouchDB package (that does not runs on Alpine Linux).
