polr_docker is the self-hostable open-source link shortening web application Polr... Dockerized
525
The goal of this repository is to make an easy to use, setup and configure 'self-hosted' dockerized image of the 'defacto' modern, minimalist, and lightweight URL shortener, that is Polr.
The container base image was pulled from richarvey/nginx-php-fpm with extra configs to help complete deploying a Polr webserver and php-fpm aio container.
If all you want to do is run the Polr webserver by it's self (standalone), the command is:
docker run --name polr_webapp -d -p 80:80 mackmoe/polr_docker
Something important to note: Polr attempts to use the server_name set in the nginx config file. The url you access this from is CRITICAL!
After the container is started, just link it to a database with the correct environment variables set for the polr database, the polr db user with grant all privs and a password for that user. Then fire up your favorite browser, and point it to http://localhost/setup.
If anything doesn't work, start by dropping into the container, changing the server_name from 'localhost' in '/etv/nginx/sites-enabled/default', to whatever URL you want to point the Polr app to, and running 'supervisorctl restart nginx'. You can safely exit the container afterwards. I have an example of this in the container image tagged "local" if you need one.
Of course, this can all be avoided if you build the container locally first, then run it for the first time with:
docker run -e 'WEBROOT=/var/www/html/public' --name polr_webapp -d -p 80:80 mackmoe/polr_docker
To make deploying a fully functioning instance of Polr locally a little less painful, you will also need to have docker-compose installed on the host you're deploying the app stack from and as well. You may also build the container image yourself, if you prefer. The repo has the Dockerfile and directory structure necessary to get this app stack going ...Pronto!
