borgbackup easy client side implementation

Usage example:

⁠create your own SSH key with Ed25519 algorithm

ssh-keygen -o -a 100 -t ed25519 -f ~/.ssh/id_ed25519 -C "[email protected]"

⁠init repository

docker run --rm -it \
    -v ~/.ssh:/root/.ssh:ro \
    -e TZ=Europe/Madrid mbotanch:borgbackup borg init --encryption=authenticated --rsh='ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_ed25519 -p 22' [email protected]:myrepo

⁠backup

docker run --rm -it \
    -v ~/.ssh:/root/.ssh:ro \
    -v ~:/host:ro \
    -v ~/backup_server.sh:/app/backup_server.sh \
    -e TZ=Europe/Madrid mbotanch:borgbackup /app/backup_server.sh

backup_server.sh is your per server configuration.

Tip: It's available example script at /app/demo_backup.sh

⁠list

docker run --rm -it \
    -v ~/.ssh:/root/.ssh:ro \
    -e TZ=Europe/Madrid mbotanch:borgbackup borg list --rsh='ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_ed25519 -p 22' [email protected]:myrepo

⁠restore

Restoration requires write access to host machine.

docker run --rm -it \
    -v ~/.ssh:/root/.ssh:ro \
    -v ~:/host:ro \
    -e TZ=Europe/Madrid mbotanch:borgbackup /bin/bash -c "mkdir -p /host/restore && cd /host/restore && borg extract --rsh='ssh -i /root/.ssh/id_ed25519 -p 22' [email protected]:myrepo::xxxxxx"
