melbis/melbis-shop repository overview

Melbis Shop — self-hosted e-commerce with an AI agent on staff

This image is the storefront engine of Melbis Shop: PHP 8.3 on Apache, ready for the platform's modules and templates. Melbis Shop is a self-hosted e-commerce platform — your server, your domain, your data — where a native Windows back-office and the PHP storefront share one business logic, and an AI agent (Claude Code, Goose, Cherry Studio — anything that speaks MCP) works in the store as an employee: under a staff login, with that person's permissions.

What is inside the image

  • php:8.3-apache with mysqli, gd (JPEG, WebP, FreeType), intl, apcu, opcache, zip, xml, curl, iconv
  • ionCube loader for PHP 8.3
  • Apache rewrite, headers, expires, remoteip — the real client IP arrives from nginx via X-Real-IP
  • an entrypoint that creates profiles/, templates/, units/, files/ and hands the web root to www-data

The image carries the engine only. The project files of a store — index.php, units/, templates/, profiles/, files/, cron.php, agent.php — are mounted into /var/www/html from the host.

How it is deployed

The image is one of three containers in a stack that setup.sh from the GitHub repository builds on a clean Ubuntu server:

ContainerImageRole
melbis_shopmelbis/melbis-shop:v<version>the engine, this image
melbis_dbmysql:8.4the store database, utf8mb4
melbis_nginxnginxports 80 / 443, SSL from Let's Encrypt

Everything lives under /var/melbis/: www (the project), db, cache (a 1 GB tmpfs — the module cache lives in memory), trick, log (engine, Apache and nginx logs in one place, rotated by logrotate), certs. The script installs Docker, writes docker-compose.yml, nginx.conf, my.cnf and the store's config.json, obtains the certificate with Certbot and schedules its renewal.

You do not run any of this by hand. The Windows client of Melbis Shop runs setup.sh over SSH: enter the server's address, its root password and your domain in Development → Server — the client installs the stack and the store. Updates come from the same window (update.sh: pull, restart).

Tags

  • latest — the current release (6.5.0)
  • edge — the current beta (6.5.1)
  • v6.5.1 — the newest build of that version
  • v6.5.1.432 — an exact build

The engine version must match the Windows client: the client pulls the tag of its own version.

Quick start

  1. Rent an Ubuntu VPS and point a domain at it.
  2. Install the Windows client from https://melbis.com/en/download/
  3. Development → Server → Install: address, root password, domain.

Seven steps with screenshots, from the server to the first task for the AI agent: https://melbis.com/en/doc/install/start/

The AI agent

The MCP server ships with the Windows client. It gives the agent 56 tools — project files with version history, database pools with locks and cache marks, catalogue trees, product files, storefront pages, the platform documentation — plus store tools with a permission on every command (26 tools, 244 commands come with the demo store). A real run: a store from one plain-words message in 24 min 45 s — https://melbis.com/en/doc/install/ai_work/

Licensing

Free to install and run in demo mode. A licence is bound to a staff login, not to a computer, from 1 € per day: https://melbis.com/en/price/
