melodysdreamj/hanji repository overview

Hanji

Notion, on ground of your own.

Hanji is an open-source, self-hosted Notion-style workspace with pages, real databases, relations, rollups, formulas, multiple views, Notion API import, sharing, collaboration, and unrestricted MCP access.

Your workspace and uploaded files remain on your own server.

Quick start

docker run -d \
  --name hanji \
  --restart unless-stopped \
  -p 8787:8787 \
  -v hanji-data:/data \
  melodysdreamj/hanji:0.1.0-alpha.2

Open http://localhost:8787 and create the first administrator in the browser.

No environment file, terminal setup code, or external database is required.

Storage and Synology NAS

Hanji stores all persistent data under the container path /data, including pages, databases, uploaded files, accounts, and generated runtime secrets.

For evaluation, you may leave Synology's volume-mapping screen empty. The image declares /data, so Docker automatically creates an anonymous volume. The anonymous volume survives container stop/start and restart.

However, an anonymous volume has a generated name and is harder to locate, back up, and reconnect after replacing or upgrading the container.

For ongoing use, configure an explicit folder mapping in Synology:

  1. Click Add folder.
  2. Select or create a dedicated folder such as /docker/hanji.
  3. Enter /data as the container Mount path.
  4. Leave Read-only unchecked.

Recommended mapping:

/docker/hanji → /data (read/write)

Do not share this folder with another application. Back up the entire folder before replacing or upgrading the container.

Map container port 8787 to an available NAS port. Keep the container connection on HTTP and use Synology DSM Reverse Proxy when public HTTPS is needed.

Supported platforms

  • Linux AMD64
  • Linux ARM64

Data and upgrades

All persistent application data, uploaded files, accounts, and generated runtime secrets are stored under /data.

Back up the /data volume before upgrading.
