mennamagdy13/quantum-safe-ssh repository overview

🛡️ Quantum-Safe SSH with Falcon512

This project provides a **pre-built Docker container** of [OQS-OpenSSH](https://github.com/open-quantum-safe/openssh) integrated with [liboqs](https://github.com/open-quantum-safe/liboqs), enabling **Falcon512 post-quantum key exchange and authentication**.

It demonstrates quantum-resistant SSH between two users (Alice as server, Bob as client) using Falcon512 public-key cryptography.

📦 Image on Docker Hub

📌 Pull the image:

docker pull mennamagdy13/quantum-safe-ssh

Run the container: docker run -d --name quantum_ssh_container -p 2222:2222 mennamagdy13/quantum-safe-ssh

🧪 Testing Inside the Container Since Windows SSH clients do not yet support Falcon512, testing must be done inside the container itself.

  1. Access the container: docker exec -it quantum_ssh_container bash

  2. Switch to the client user bob: su - bob

  3. SSH to the server user alice:

    /opt/oqs-openssh/bin/ssh -p 2222 -i ~/.ssh/id_falcon512 -o PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes=+ssh-falcon512 alice@localhost You will be logged in to Alice’s account using Falcon512 quantum-safe keys!

👤 Users Setup Username Role Description alice Server SSH server with Falcon512 key bob Client Has public Falcon512 key stored in Alice's authorized_keys

🔒 Why Port 2222? The container exposes port 2222 instead of the default SSH port 22 to avoid conflicts with your host system.

To connect externally (⚠️ This will only work on a client that supports Falcon512 — currently Linux builds of OQS-OpenSSH only.):

ssh -i id_falcon512 -p 2222 -o PubkeyAcceptedKeyTypes=+ssh-falcon512 alice@localhost

🧱 Tech Stack Ubuntu 22.04 liboqs (Open Quantum Safe) OQS-OpenSSH (with Falcon512) Docker

👩‍💻 Project Goals Demonstrate post-quantum authentication using Falcon512. Simulate a secure quantum-resilient SSH connection between two users. Run fully isolated inside Docker.

✅ How to Rebuild the Image (Optional) If you want to rebuild locally: git clone https://github.com/your-repo/quantum-safe-ssh cd quantum-safe-ssh docker build -t quantum-safe-ssh .
