FourthChat is an open-source platform to build your own AI assistant with a frontend. You can upload files, store them in a vector database, and chat with your data using your own API keys.
Quick Start
Run FourthChat instantly with Docker:
docker run -p 3000:3000 \
-e POSTGRES_URL="postgresql://user:[email protected]:5432/fourthchat" \
-e QDRANT_URL="http://host.docker.internal:6333" \
-e AUTH_SECRET="your-secure-random-secret" \
mentterlabs/fourthchat:latest
Environment Variables
| Variable | Description | Example |
|---|---|---|
POSTGRES_URL | Connection string for your PostgreSQL database. | postgresql://user:pass@host:5432/db |
QDRANT_URL | URL for your Qdrant vector database. | http://host:6333 |
AUTH_SECRET | 32+ char secret for session encryption. | openssl rand -base64 32 |
Note on
host.docker.internal: Use this hostname if your database services are running on the host machine (outside Docker). If they are in another container, use that container's name or IP.
External Services
This image requires:
- PostgreSQL: For storing user data and conversations.
- Qdrant: For storing vector embeddings of your files.
You can run these locally or use managed services.
