Azure CLI, kubectl and Docker in a container
722
This image contains Azure CLI, kubectl and docker tools. Together with included kubectl launcher script, it can be used to maintain multiple Kubernetes clusters. There is also Azure IoT Hub extension installed in the image.
More detailed description is in following chapters.
As all the tools utilize configuration directories in user home directory, it should be mounted into the container to persist configurations and to be able to combine usage of containerized and host-installed instances of the tools (both share the same config files). Unfortunatelly this leads to certain security flaw, so use this container only on your (secure) development machine.
To run the command execute
docker run --rm -it -v /var/run/docker.sock:/var/run/docker.sock -v $HOME:/root -v $DATADIR:/var/data microsnail/aks <any command>
Mounting the $DATADIR gives container access to any data files needed by the command. /var/data is the default start directory.
If you don't want to mount user home directory, you can mount any other which contains relevant .kube, .azure and/or .docker directories.
If you run the image without any parameter, interactive bash is launched.
TBD
Most of settings are built into the image, however some of them can be changed on runtime via environment variables or commands.
The default timezone of the image is UTC. However, you can change it by passing environment variable on container start -e "TZ=$YOURTIMEZONE".
