🐘 PHP 8.3 FPM on Alpine 3.20 – Multi-Role Container

A lightweight and production-ready PHP 8.3 FPM image based on Alpine Linux 3.20, optimized for Laravel and other modern PHP applications. This image includes a flexible run.sh entrypoint to run your container in different modes: app, queue, or scheduler.

Base Image: php:8.3-fpm-alpine3.20

PHP Extensions:

• pdo_mysql
• mysqli
• gd (with JPEG, PNG, and FreeType support)
• pcntl

Tools Installed:

• bash
• vim
• nano-
• unzip

composer (global: /usr/bin/composer)

Working Directory: /var/www

User: www-data (non-root for better security)

Entrypoint: /var/www/run.sh

⚙️ Supported Roles

app: Runs PHP-FPM (default)

queue: Runs Laravel queue worker

scheduler: Runs Laravel scheduler every 60 seconds

You can select the role by setting the CONTAINER_ROLE environment variable.

🧱 How to Run

Run the PHP-FPM application (default):

docker run -d
-e CONTAINER_ROLE=app
-v $(pwd):/var/www
mirkovoss/dockervel:php-8.3

Run a Laravel queue worker:

docker run -d
-e CONTAINER_ROLE=queue
-v $(pwd):/var/www
mirkovoss/dockervel:php-8.3

Run the Laravel scheduler:

docker run -d
-e CONTAINER_ROLE=scheduler
-v $(pwd):/var/www
mirkovoss/dockervel:php-8.3
