⁠How to do common tasks

⁠Updating the server version

1. Find the version number at https://minecraft.gamepedia.com/Bedrock_Dedicated_Server⁠
2. Update version in the Dockerfile⁠

ARG BEDROCK_VERSION=1.16.101.01

1. (automated) Rebuild the server
2. (automated) Redeploy

⁠Getting changes LIVE!

1. Make whatever changes you need to make (see above for server version)
2. When you commit in the GUI, do NOT select commit to master. Instead, choose Create a new branch for this commit and start a pull request.
3. A new pull request (aka PR) will kick off some automated checks that do as follows:

• build a new image with the changes
• start up a new temporary minecraft server with those changes
• watch the logs to ensure it starts
• report status back to github

1. Once the PR is approved, it will be merged.
2. Any commit to master, including a merged PR, will kick off an official new build
3. In order to get the changes live, a new release will need to be created via the GitHub GUI
4. A new release will kick off an automated process to deploy the service

⁠Rebuild the server

1. ssh into the box. Currently at 192.168.86.40
2. Change to the minecraft directory

cd /Users/mkboudreau/minecraft-bds

1. Pull the latest changes from git

git pull

1. Rebuild the Docker image

make build

1. Restart the service

make restart
