mmar58/smart_database_manager repository overview

DB Manager

A powerful, modern, and lightweight Database Manager built with a Svelte/Vite frontend and a Node.js/TypeScript backend.

šŸ”— GitHub Repository: mmar58/Smart_Database_Manager

ā šŸš€ Quick Start with Docker Compose

The easiest way to get up and running is to use Docker Compose. This automatically handles persistent storage volumes and environment variables.

Create a docker-compose.yml file anywhere on your server and paste the following code:

version: '3.8'

services:
  db-manager:
    # Replace 'yourusername' with the actual Docker Hub namespace if needed
    image: mmar58/db_manager:latest
    container_name: db-manager
    ports:
      - "3000:3000"
    environment:
      - PORT=3000
      - CORS_ORIGIN=*

      # āš ļø SECURITY WARNING: In production, you MUST replace these dummy secrets
      # with strong, randomly generated strings (e.g. using `openssl rand -hex 32`)
      - SESSION_SECRET=change-me-to-a-random-secret
      - JWT_SECRET_KEY=change-me-to-a-random-jwt-secret
      - CRYPT_PEPPER=change-me-to-a-random-pepper

      # Application Configuration (Optional)
      - DB_CONNECTION_TIMEOUT=60000
      - MAX_ROWS_PER_PAGE=1000
      - DEFAULT_PAGE_SIZE=100
    volumes:
      # These volumes ensure your local app data and backups survive container restarts/upgrades
      - db-manager-data:/app/data
      - db-manager-backups:/app/backups
    restart: unless-stopped

volumes:
  db-manager-data:
  db-manager-backups:
Start the Application

After saving the docker-compose.yml file, run the following command in the same directory to start the application in the background:

docker compose up -d

You can now access your DB Manager by opening your browser and navigating to http://localhost:3000.

ā šŸ’¾ Persistent Data

This image automatically saves data in two locations mapped as volumes:

  • /app/data: Internal database and state files.
  • /app/backups: SQL exports and backups.

By using the volumes specified in the docker-compose file above, your data will be safely persisted on your host machine even when you update the image to a newer version.

ā šŸ›  Features Included

  • Ultra-small Footprint: The image uses node:22-alpine and bundles the frontend directly into the backend, omitting all development dependencies.
  • Ollama Integration: Includes AI assistant tools capable of interacting directly with your databases!
