Developed by Fabien Potencier from a proprietary tool used in large projects like Symfony, the splitsh-lite utility subdivides a single large monolithic Git repository (monorepo) to ease the maintenance of read-only copies of subtrees within it (manyrepos). The Dockerized version builds a fresh copy from source to include an unofficial extension to preserve the early histories of freestanding repositories combined into the monorepo. The current version is the bloated slow one: use the naive tag to access this.
