This image has python 2.7 and OpenCV installation, including the modules from OpenCV contrib. It is built for Raspberry Pi 3 running Raspbian. It is based on the resin.io raspberrypi3 python image⁠.

⁠How to use this image
⁠Run OpenCV python applications
docker run -it --rm \
       mohaseeb/raspberrypi3-python-opencv:4.1.0 \
       python -c "import cv2; print(cv2.__version__)"

or

docker run -it --rm \
       -v `pwd`/opencv_app.py:/opencv_app.py \
       mohaseeb/raspberrypi3-python-opencv:4.1.0 \
       python /opencv_app.py

⁠Build an image starting from this one
  • Prepare a Dockerfile; e.g. :
FROM mohaseeb/raspberrypi3-python-opencv:latest
RUN pip install --no-cache-dir \
    python_package1 \
    python_package2
COPY opencv_app.py opencv_app.py
CMD ["python", "opencv_app.py"]
  • Build the image
docker build -t my_opencv_app .
  • And run it
docker run -it --rm --name my_opencv_app_run my_opencv_app
