  • Pull docker image. $ docker pull najlabioinfo/postgresql:latest

  • Run the image: $ docker run --name testdbcontainer -d -p 5432:5432 -e POSTGRESQL_USER=test -e POSTGRESQL_PASS=testpassword -e POSTGRESQL_DB=test najlabioinfo/postgresql:latest

  • Execute your command inside the container:

  • Exp 1: Postgresql version $ docker exec -it testdbcontainer psql --version

psql (PostgreSQL) 10.4

  • Exp 2: List available databases $ docker exec -it testdbcontainer psql postgres --list -U postgres

List of databases : postgres, template0,template1
