nalits/product-story repository overview

Product Story

Turn working software into a story worth sharing.

Product Story looks at software that already works — a project folder, a running website, a URL, or a written story.md — and turns it into a finished demo video with narration, captions, social-media clips and stills you can post or present right away. You write the story; Product Story handles the recording, the voice, the music and the render.

Made by NALITS. It runs fully on your own machine or server: your code and your data stay with you.

What it produces

  • a demo video in widescreen, portrait and square formats
  • a narrated voice-over for that video, with readable captions
  • social-card and poster stills
  • a machine-readable manifest.json listing every artifact it produced

Quick start

You need Docker. Then, from a terminal:

docker pull nalits/product-story
docker run --rm nalits/product-story version

If that prints a version number, you are ready. Point the image at a project (written from scratch, or with a story.md inside) and a folder for the output:

docker run --rm \
  -v "$PWD/my-project:/input:ro" \
  -v "$PWD/product-story-output:/output" \
  nalits/product-story \
  run --source /input --output /output

Product Story reads your project read-only and writes only to the output folder you name — nothing else on your machine is touched. Find the created manifest.json in product-story-output; it lists every video, audio file and still the run produced, with how to watch or share it.

Note that the image is large (it bundles everything needed to record, speak and render), so the first pull takes a while.

Tags

  • latest — the current stable release
  • x.y.z — a specific release (pinning this is best for repeatable runs)

Architectures

Both common processor families — amd64 (Intel/AMD) and arm64 (Apple Silicon, ARM servers) — are built and tested before every release. Pull the image normally and Docker picks the right one for your machine.

Where to find the details

This README is the plain-English version. The full documentation — every command, every story.md feature, security and the matters technical — lives in the GitHub repository, starting with its docs/ folder. Questions, feature ideas and bug reports are welcome there too.
