⁠Short description

Remote education has been need of the hour during this Covid19 pandemic. Educators globally are looking out of Virtual classes via different means available in the market. However, there is unavailability of single platform that can be used by School Management, Teachers and Students for all processes involved in an academic year. This idea will benefit at all levels and also for any user who wants to learn through public contents available in the site.

⁠What's the problem?

Education is the most affected area during this COVID pandemic with all the schools remains closed to cope up this situation. This creates a break in studies of every school going children. Some of the schools try to manage this crisis by providing online education. This can engage the students but schools face a struggle to coordinate or to manage their activities.

⁠How can technology help?

Virtual schools are the answer for the above problem, which can help both management and the student’s activities without roadblocks. We also should be able to switch back from normal to pandemic situation and vice versa seamlessly.

⁠The idea

Education is a two-way activity which should help both the sides of it. For this we come up with Edu Arena which can re-create the entire School environment virtually. With the help of Open Source tools such as angular JS and Spring boot backed by Cloudant DB and IBM cloud. Every school can onboard to the application and make us of it.

⁠The architecture

1. User can be a Student/Teacher/Management, uses the application to perform respective actions.
2. Videos/Content provided by teacher is stored in Cloudant DB
3. Videos/Content will be accessed by the student based on access
4. Management uses the application to perform their management activities such as hiring teachers, admitting the student and tracking their performances.

⁠Long description

EduAreana is an application which creates a virtual School and helps both the students and the school management during the pandemic situation. In the current pandemic situation, we should bridge the gap between the students and the school. We have created an idea that will address the issue from the perspectives of students, teachers and the management. Each of them has different kind of challenges in their own way. Our idea is to create a virtual school, which will be able to help the management to seamlessly handle both the pandemic and non-pandemic situation. Application we created not only educate the student and help the management and teachers to manage their day to day activities without any hurdles. We will have three different users namely, student, teachers and schools

1. Schools can onboard themselves to manage their activities like hiring a teacher, admitting a student or assigning student to a respective class
2. Teachers can use the application to handle their multiple classes, also they can have interactive sessions and they can create score card reports for the individual students. They also can create videos globally, which can be used by all the non-registered students with their school.
3. Students can use application in both ways, they can register themselves against any of the schools or they can access only the public videos on subscription We have created the application with Angular JS, Spring boot and Cloudant DB. Angular JS is used to create our Front End, while Spring boot forms our service layer and Cloudant DB acts as out Database. This is deployed in Kubernetes cluster available in IBM cloud Environment. We made this application better in two ways,
4. Mostly all of the application for remote education which is available in market, deals with providing educational videos to the student. Most of the application approaches the problem with the view of a student. We have added a solution for the school management in our application
5. This application can be used both in pandemic and non-pandemic situation, which will help the student, teachers and management to switch back seamlessly from pandemic to non-pandemic and vice versa
