natepostwork/ocio-config-builder repository overview

OCIO-CONFIG-BUILDER

This image is setup up to work with the PostWork fork of the aces_1.1 config which includes Fujifilm Colorspace information.

OCIO configs https://github.com/postwork-io/postwork-OpenColorIO-Configs

Dockerfile https://github.com/postwork-io/ocio-config-build-docker

Quickstart Example

docker pull natepostwork/ocio-config-builder

windows

docker run -v %CD%:/output natepostwork/ocio-config-builder

mac os/linux

docker run -v $(PWD):/output natepostwork/ocio-config-builder

This example pulls the image builds all the luts and ocio config and puts it in the current directory.

How it Works

The container is built to work with ACES 1.1. The entrypoint of the container is the create_aces_config command line app. By default it will build the config and LUTs to /output. To build to a specific location on your computer mount the desired folder to /output. If you want to run any commands other than the default build you can supply any arguments you would supply to create_aces_config at the end of the run command.

Command-line examples

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with no secondary, baked LUTs:

create_aces_config -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --dontBakeSecondaryLUTs

Create a more OCIO-compliant ACES 1.1 config:

create_aces_config -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --createMultipleDisplays

Adding custom looks

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with an ACES-style CDL (will be applied in the ACEScc colorspace):

create_aces_con`fig -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --addACESLookCDL ACESCDLName /path/to/SampleCDL.ccc cc03345

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with a general CDL:

create_aces_con`fig -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --addCustomLookCDL CustomCDLName "ACES - ACEScc" /path/to/SampleCDL.ccc cc03345

In this example, the CDL will be applied in the ACEScc colorspace, but the user could choose other spaces by changing the argument after the name of the look.

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with an ACES-style LUT (will be applied in the ACEScc colorspace):

create_aces_con`fig -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --addACESLookLUT ACESLUTName /path/to/lookLUT.3dl

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with a general LUT:

create_aces_co`nfig -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --addCustomLookLUT CustomLUTName "ACES - ACEScc" /path/to/lookLUT.3dl

In this example, the LUT will be applied in the ACEScc colorspace, but the user could choose other spaces by changing the argument after the name of the look.

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config using the Dolby PQ transfer function as the shaper:

create_aces_config -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --shaper DolbyPQ

Adding custom output transform

Create a GUI-friendly ACES 1.1 config with a custom output transform:

create_aces_co`nfig -a /path/to/aces-dev/transforms/ctl --lutResolution1d 4096 --lutResolution3d 65 -c aces_1.1 --addCustomOutputLUT CustomOutputName "Input - ARRI - V3 LogC (EI800) - Wide Gamut"/path/to/outputLUT.3dl

Options:

--version show program's version number and exit

-h, --help show this help message and exit

-a ACESCTLDIR, --acesCTLDir=ACESCTLDIR

-c CONFIGDIR, --configDir=CONFIGDIR

--lutResolution1d=LUTRESOLUTION1D

--lutResolution3d=LUTRESOLUTION3D

--dontBakeSecondaryLUTs

--keepTempImages

--createMultipleDisplays

--addCustomLookLUT=ADDCUSTOMLOOKLUT

--addCustomLookCDL=ADDCUSTOMLOOKCDL

--addACESLookLUT=ADDACESLOOKLUT

--addACESLookCDL=ADDACESLOOKCDL

--copyCustomLUTs

--addCustomOutputLUT=ADDCUSTOMOUTPUTLUT

--addCustomRole=ADDCUSTOMROLE

-s SHAPER, --shaper=SHAPER
